13 Horror Games To Keep Your Eye On!

Check out some previews of what the future will hold for horror genre of gaming.

Now being just about half way through January games are slowly starting to release after our somewhat bro_*en (insert patch 1.7), our somewhat broken 2014 (Assassin’s Creed Unity, Watch Dogs, etc). We now look to the future, January we saw zombie apocalypse game Dying Light and Resident Evil HD and yesterday we saw launch of Evolve. What do we have in store for the future of horror gaming? Let us take a look!

1. The Order 1886

From Ready at Dawn comes the third person shooter The Order 1886. What looks to a remarkable powerhouse in the graphics could possibly be more of a show game of what the PS4 can do then to actually play it. By all means this game looks great and has a cover based system that is similar to that of Gears of War. So could it be as good as it looks? With Werewolves taking over London and other dark forces we will just have to wait and see on February 20th.

2. Resident Evil Revelations 2

Yes folks another Resident Evil game is making its’ way to the surface. A sequel to the 2012 title Resident Evil Revelations, we see that Capcom is working at bringing back some familiar faces like Clair and Barry to help new characters as we see more developed story telling game and puzzle solving experience. RE: Revelations 2 hits stores February 18th.

3. Bloodborne

From the brilliant mind of Hidetaka Miyazaki (creator of the Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls) comes his latest work Bloodborne. This game has been picking up so much steam over the last few months. It is looking to be more gothic horror vibe than fantasy which is perfectly okay by me. Combine Horror and Dark Souls we should have one hell of a game on our hands. Check out all the videos now on youtube.

4. Kodoku
Yeah, just watch the trailer.

5. Soma

From Frictional Games  (developers of such titles like Amnesia and the Penumbra series) SOMA is a first person survival horror game on PC and PS4. Not much has been said about the game except a quote from the game write Philip K. Dick “Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.” The game is going to explore the mind-body, the edge of consciousness and will create unique monsters to match our fears.

6. Until Dawn

This game had a pretty sweet introduction with the its’ teaser trailers. The game is a survival horror title that will utilize the features of the Dualshock 4 controller and the power of the PS4. A pretty basic synopsis of the game is Eight friends go to an isolated cabin, where they drink, party, have sex, and get high. The problem is they aren’t alone in the mountains.

7. Friday The 13th: Video Game

Not since 1989 has Jason been in a Friday the 13th title, this game was under the radar until about a month ago, when information slowly trickled out. The game is said to have players being either Jason or one of the camp consolers as they must hide and survive Camp Crystal lake.

8. Darkwood

Darkwood is currently in Steam Early Access. This title is part RPG and part Strategy. Players will have to explore a fog covered forrest as they must travel through the land to survive the night. While being in the forest it is inhabited by crazy mountain people that want to kill you.

9. Fatal Frame V

This title is out in Japan right now but it will not be released in the West till 2015.  Fatal Frame is all about chills and jumps, this title is exclusive to the Wii U as you use the game pad as a camera. Players will be looking around their living room through game pad to see different ghosts that will pop and hopefully haunt your dreams.

10. Doom

Not much information has been released on this upcoming title in the Doom Franchise. Just hoping to be released in 2015 the information we have is this hell trailer.

11. Outlast 2

As with Doom not much has been announced for Outlast 2 except it is being worked on as we speak. Philip Morin, said the studio has more horror to share and with a new sequel coming they will possibly be taking the True Detective approach  which will have new characters, themes, and locations.

12. H1Z1

No it is not H1N1 we are looking at H1Z1, a horror infused survival MMO from Sony. We all know how the scenario zombie apocalypse, everyone is dead except for a handful of people and it is up to you survive. The main difference in this title is that there is no safe houses or safe zones, so you are constantly on the run for survival.

13. Her Story

Now this is a title that I am very interested in, the fact being that the game is fully composed of police interviews. The game features a real life actress. All that is given is that there is a murder the accused is the wife. The story is being written by the man behind Aisle and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.  This could be a very unique title and will be launching on Mac, PC, and iOS.

There has been a buzz about Her Story going around for a while. Definitely seems different, I hope the new Doom is everything it should be now. That was a great franchise that fell off because of company conflicts.
