A famous staple of horror cinema is the 1976 horror classic, The Town That Dreaded Sundown. It centered around a masked killer that terrorized a small town. It was based on a true crime spree. There is now a combination of remake and sequel coming out. Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story will be on board as a producer. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon also from AHS will be directing with a screenplay by RobertoAguirre-Sacasa
The trailer shows promise. The killer seems to have an agenda other than creating a body count. The cast looks good. It has Dennis O’Hare, Gary Cole, Edward Hermann and Spencer Treat Clark. I’ve never seen the original but this new entry has my attention. I’ll be on my way to the theater to see how this tale plays out.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown will be released on October 16th, 2014.
