Everyone loves a good scare. Those who say they don’t either lie or never seen an amazing horror film in their lives. I’m not talking about cheap slashers and screamers (although they do have a unique charm to them) but about actual suspense like Kubrick’s The Shining.

Alas, the odds of finding a good new movie are lower than the ones of online pokies real money winners. They don’t make the movies like that anymore… Or do they?

7 awesome films to keep an eye for in 2017

What are the films to scare our pants off in this year?

  1. IT. Yeah, they are remaking the good old classics but with a spookier tone. Brace yourself for more nightmare fuel with Stephen King’s new IT. Alas, there isn’t that much data available regarding the movie. We’ll just have to wait and be patient.
  2. Kong: Skull Island. This probably won’t be as horrifying as in the days of black and white cinema. Perhaps the film will have an action flick rather than a horror one. But the impact King Kong movies left on the world still makes it a good enough movie to be listed among the legends of horror.
  3. Rings. One of my better loved horror franchises will shortly have another chapter. This time an entire mysterious sub-culture will gather around the mysterious tapes. What will come of it?
  4. Friday the 13th. Yeah, they are making a new one. Again. And guess what? I’m all in for as long as they don’t launch Jason into space or make him fight Freddie again.
  5. Personal Shoppers. An American girl is living the life of a personal shopper in Paris. She works for a celebrity. Cool right? But it gets better as our girl has the ability to communicate with spirits. Just like her twin brother. Who. Recently. Passed. Away. Get it?
  6. Flatliners. A film about med students who have learned to visit the realm of the dead. They also learned a few ways to resurrect themselves from the dead. And you know what? Something always goes wrong if you mess up with dead people.
  7. Saw: Legacy. Jigsaw is back with new corridors of traps and hatchets for those who did not cherish their life well enough. Or is he? I guess we’ll just have to find out on Halloween like we used to back in the day.

I love the original Flatliners. It’s going to be hard to top that cast.
