CLOVERFIELD SEQUEL Coming to Theaters March 11?

If true, JJ Abrams is certifiably incredible!

Now, we don’t much pander to hearsay at The Blood-Shed, but this is just too good not to report on!  Bloody Disgusting is claiming a source has confirmed that a sequel to JJ Abram’s 2008 found footage masterpiece CLOVERFIELD is not only in the works, but completed.  Even more unbelievable: They claim the film will hit theaters on March 11th!

If this is true, JJ Abrams may just pull off another major coup, perhaps even delivering the most successful genre film of 2016 at a time when no one even knew of its existence.

abrams_lgBloody Disgusting is claiming the sequel will be called 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE.  Bolstering their claims is a quote supplied by Paramount Pictures attributed to Abrams himself:

“The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.”

Back in 2008, CLOVERFIELD succeeded in no small amount thanks to a stellar marketing campaign and impeccable secrecy.  If we are truly only weeks away from a sequel, this will set the bar for clandestine filmmaking.  While a film might suffer from not having an extensive pre-release campaign, dropping a major horror film out of the blue should generate unprecedented levels of excitement.

While Bloody Disgusting doesn’t have a perfect record when it comes to factual reporting, they’re definitely correct more often than not.  Here’s hoping this turns out to be real!

If not, we’ll unhappily post a retraction.

Holy Hell! I’ve looked on IMDB and can’t find a thing to confirm – even for 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. But we’ve certainly been teased by Bad Robot. We’ll have to wait and see…
