It’s no secret that we at The Blood-Shed have been amped up over the impending release of Victor Frankenstein on Wednesday, November 25th. Retellings of Mary Shelley’s Modern Prometheus have been a pillar of horror cinema since its inception, but the universal appeal of the story and 20th Century Fox’s unique spin on the tale makes this one especially exciting.
Official Synopsis: James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in a dynamic and thrilling twist on a legendary tale. Radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (McAvoy) and his equally brilliant protégé Igor Strausman (Radcliffe) share a noble vision of aiding humanity through their groundbreaking research into immortality. But Victor’s experiments go too far, and his obsession has horrifying consequences. Only Igor can bring his friend back from the brink of madness and save him from his monstrous creation.
In the latest clip from Victor Frankenstein, released yesterday, we see the mad genius and his henchman fielding questions from local authorities regarding a string of unsolved murders. This tangent is unique, as far as I can tell; the legal ramification of the Doctor’s experimentation is almost always glossed over. Still, the presentation of murder and deception in the 19th Century rings incredibly gothic!
