The McPherson Tape review [SPOILERS]

Supposedly one of the first found footage movies ever made - the very first according to some - it's interesting how well it holds up to this day.

In the cathedral of found footage, this movie stands shoulder to shoulder with titans like the Blair Witch Project, Cannibal Holocaust, Paranormal Activity, Guinea Pig and Alien Autopsy. It’s a no-budget debut film about a family attacked by aliens written, directed, filmed and produced by one man no one had ever heard of at the time – Dean Alioto. Not long after he secured distribution rights the master tape was destroyed in a warehouse fire, but that’s not to say no one ever saw it. If you knew the right video store clerk back in the early nineties you could have gotten your hands on a bootlegged copy of the film, and from there the movie took on a life of it’s own.
