NBC Universal has announced that they will shutting down Chiller, their 24 hour horror channel, at the end of the year. Chiller will go dark on December 31st at 11:59pm Eastern Time. The official reason given was the “swift decline in carriage and duplication of its programming on streaming services and other networks”.  There was no immediate update on what, if anything, would replace it.

Chiller officially launched on March 1st, 2007. The first show it aired was the classic series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

For the most part, Chiller did not have much original programing. During it’s 10+ years on the air, some of the shows aired included The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, Twin Peaks, and The Outer Limits, among a long list of others.

Chiller was home to 1 original program however. The original show Slasher was created for the network and aired for one season. That one season was the story of “The Executioner”. After the first season, the show was sold to NetFlix where it continued with the second season “Guilty Party”.
