Possessed objects are not a new thing in horror- but Polaroid (the movie, not the film from the camera) looks interesting. As a photographer, I always love things about cameras, plus of course horror, so Polaroid film, with its take and shake fun, seems a good medium, that seems innocent, for a demon to work from.
On December 1st, 2017, from the producers of THE RING and THE GRUDGE, and based on the award-winning short by Lars Klevberg, comes the next iconic and bold new vision in horror: POLAROID. High school loner Bird Fitcher has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.
The movie that was due out this past summer is now confirmed by Dimension Films, that it will be released in the US theater-wide on December 1, 2017.
Polaroid stars Kathryn Prescott (FINDING CARTER), Mitch Pileggi (THE X-FILES), Grace Zabriskie (THE GRUDGE), Tyler Young (EYEWITNESS), Keenan Tracey (BATES MOTEL), Samantha Logan (THE FOSTERS), Priscilla Quintana (STRANDED), Madelaine Petsch (RIVERDALE) and Javier Botet (MAMA, IT).
There has long been superstition and negative beliefs surrounding photos and reflections, with some cultures believing that capturing an image of someone can steal their soul. Hmmm, I think I know someone I could mail my old camera to… just kidding!
