Dear readers, it is with great regret and a tear streaked face that I bring to you the news that multiple sources within the last half hour are reporting in that horror legend Wes Craven has passed away at the age of 76, apparently stemming from a battle with brain cancer.
Craven, born in 1939, was known for films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, The People Under The Stairs, and The Hills Have Eyes. He leaves behind a wife and two adult children.
I celebrated my birthday today… part of getting older is seeing your childhood heroes pass… RIP Wes Craven…
More on this upsetting news as it develops…
Addendum from Johnny Macabre:
The thing with icons, with legends, is that they become more than people. They become bigger than mortals. They are the new inhabitants of the modern Olympus. And we look up to them. We scarcely consider that one day the myth will end and the icon will pass away. And when it happens… it rocks the foundation of the very world.
