In summary… WEKUFE [review]

Made in 2016, delayed until now. Was the wait for this mythical Chilean horror tour the force worth the five year span of silence?

*Mostly spoiler-free, but I do discuss a few events.

Wekufe is a story of corruption, moral and political degeneracy, and how stupid people get themselves killed. Sounds like my perfect movie actually, and that’s why I was so looking forwards to finally seeing it when I first heard about it some years ago. That and all the reviews I read at the time made it out to to be peak found footage cinema for a bit, and I waited with bated breath for it to be available anywhere so I could finally watch it, only for the hype to gradually die down with the inevitable passage of time. Until I completely forgot about it. About a year ago I heard it would pop up on POV Horror and it convinced me to finally sign up, only for it to be further delayed with no one explaining why. But now it’s here, and I watched it, and was it the impeccable lost masterpiece the rumours made it out to be?
