While he hasn’t done a lot of horror, it almost goes without saying William Dafoe is one creepy motherfucker. Perhaps most famous for his role as The Green Goblin in Spiderman and his Academy Award nominated performance as Max Schreck in Shadow of the Vampire, Dafoe’s disturbing grin and iconic voice set him apart as a bold and powerful actor.
His casting as Ryuk, a God of Death, in the live action Death Note reboot is a more than appropriate choice. And not just because they kind of look alike.
While Death Note currently has no release date, it’s release on Netflix is predicted to come sometime in 2017, and with the streaming networks stellar record so far, one can only hope the live action film will live up to the stellar anime…even if it’s starring Nat Wolf (why?).
Jeffrey Scott is Head Writer for The Blood Shed and eats, drinks, and bleeds horror. You can check out his company Head On A Stick Productions at Hoasp.store
