Gotham By Midnight is an upcoming horror title from DC that gives readers a glimpse into the strange darkness that’s always been such an integral part of Gotham City. The book is a spin-off of the New 52 title Batman Eternal with Ray Fawkes writing and Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night, The Squidder) illustrating. Gotham By Midnight focuses on hard-nosed detective Jim Corrigan (host to the vengeful Spectre) and his team of paranormal investigators (known as the Midnight Shift) who lend a hand on those cases where even Bats is out of his depth. Reportedly, the Caped Crusader will make sporadic appearances, but he will not be featured as a main character.
Even so, perhaps fans will finally find out if it is in fact the Batman’s presence which leads to the glut of super-criminals infesting Gotham, or if maybe there’s something much darker and insidious, maybe even supernatural, that draws these madmen to the city? Perhaps the Midnight Shift will be able to answer this question, a conundrum even Edward Nigma might have some trouble with.
The first issue of Gotham By Midnight goes on sale November 26.
