Sam Raimi and The Last of Us!

Sam Raimi signed as producer

We all know (or should know) about The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s big hit on the PS3 last summer. The game swept the industry by winning over 200 awards, yeah 200! No lie. Here is the list

After the games release last June, it spawned numerous pieces of DLC and a comic franchise that took place before the events of the game. Now the question is, where do they go from here? Well let’s take it the big screen, and who will help produce it? The creator of the Evil Dead franchise, Sam Raimi, Yes! Sam freakin’ Raimi.

At the 2014 San Diego Comic Con, Sony Screen Gems and Sam Raimi announced they would start working on the film adaptation of The Last of Us.  Interviews with Naughty Dog Creative director, Neil Druckmann, will write the film which is going to be based off of the game and will then hand it over to Raimi. Druckmann did state he will be in charge of choosing the director and Raimi will not be it.

Rumors are floating about who will star in the film (don’t count on Ellen Page being Ellie after the whole debacle when the game came out). HBO Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was possibly mention to play Ellie and crowds seemed okay with it.
