Shudder, the horror streaming service, is live!!!

Screams on demand!

You’ve probably all seen the ads for Shudder, the all horror streaming service from AMC. It’s been in the works for awhile and I’ve personally been looking forward to it. Just now, I checked the site again, only to see that the service has gone live!!!

Bit of a marketing snafu on the part of AMC, in my opinion, not to let people know that the service has become active. But it has and now for only $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year you can get unlimited access to what appears to be quite the on demand library.

Currently, Shudder has streaming for 264 films (yes, I counted them), with a really good mix of indie and big name and various genres. Classics like “The Stuff” and “The Crazies”, foreign horror like “Whispering Corridors” and “Troll Hunter”, indie hits like “Dead Hooker in a Trunk” and “Murder Party”, even some I’ve never heard of (WTF is “Sauna”?). Overall, it looks like a very well rounded collection. I’ve seen attempts like this in the past that are comprised of mostly bottom-of-the-barrel shit next to public domain oldies. This is not that.

Oh, and you get a 14 day free trial! Did I mention that? I’m in, AMC. You’ve always been good to us horror folk. Can’t wait to see this service grow!

Check out now!
