One of the greatest horror films of all time is finally receiving a release it deserves. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary and Dark Sky Films is releasing a special edition boxset in honor of it. The film has been digitally remastered to 4K resolution with a 7.1 surround sound mix. This special boxset which will release in October of this year, is entitled the “Black Maria” Collector’s edition. Fans will also be able to purchase the set a few weeks early, on September 16th through the website www.gorgon-video.com
This remaster of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is the first of it’s kind. It is the first time a remaster has been made using the original 16mm A/B rolls that actually rolled through the camera. The packaging will also be quite unique, featuring a replica of the “Black Maria” truck that came to Sally’s rescue in the original movie.
